Pain Management Pain Management Compounding

Most of the patients who walk through our doors are dealing with some kind of pain. Our Certified Pharmacy Compounders prepare many pain medications for physicians who are in need of a different medication form, strength, flavor, etc. We can prepare a patient’s pain medication to be customized for the patient and what kind of pain they are experiencing. Some examples of different dosage forms that are prepared for pain medications include: lollipops, troches, lozenges, capsules, topical creams & gels, suppositories, topical and oral sprays, and sublingual tablets. Each dosage form has its advantages when it comes to certain types of pain management.

Many physicians prescribe strong pain medication for patients in extreme pain. The medication is very effective, however, physicians worry about the effects of high amounts of Acetaminophen on the patient. Our compounders can prepare these strong pain medications without the Acetaminophen that causes the doctors worry. We can also alter the strength of a medication to be higher or lower than a commercially available dose.

Lollipops and troches are a very effective method of taking medication for patients who are in chronic pain. Unfortunately, many of these medicines contain high amounts of sugar and are not flavored. Our Pharmacy Compounders can compound these medication forms in any strength and flavor. Also, our lollipops and troches are sugar free, helping our patients who are diabetic benefit from this kind of pain relief, not to mention saving everyone’s teeth!

Often times patients in extreme pain cannot take medications by mouth. With the use of compounded topical medications, we can help these patients manage their pain. Our compounders prepare transdermal pain medication that can be applied directly to the area in pain. Ibuprofen, Ketoprofen, and Morphine are examples of medications that are effective in this form. We can also compound pain medication in suppository form or in a sublingual tablet for patients who have trouble swallowing.

For patients who have been struggling with chronic pain, the customization of pharmacy compounding can offer personalized care, for a very personal problem. With custom strengths and dosage forms, we can help our patients find the very best medication solutions to their pain. Please call our compounding department today to find out how we can help you relieve your chronic pain.
